Phantasy Star Online 2 Coming to Steam Next Week (Updated)

Sega announced that free-to-play MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2 will release on Steam on August 5, 2020. The Steam launch will coincide with the release of the game’s Episode 4, which continues its story. While the Xbox One and Windows 10 release on the Microsoft Store are currently only available in North America, the Steam version will be available in 36 countries on six continents, though the exact list of countries was not revealed.

Phantasy Star Online 2 was originally released for PC in Japan in 2012, with versions later made available for PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. The game, and its predecessor Phantasy Star Online, are spin-offs to the main Phantasy Star series, taking place in a separate galaxy. A new title, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, was announced last week.

Update — Sega has confirmed that Phantasy Star Online 2‘s Steam version will be available in 35 countries, not 36, with the full list as follows: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, United Kingdom, and United States.
