Night City Wire Shows More Cyberpunk 2077, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Animation Announced

CD Projekt RED hosted its first episode of Night City Wire, a series of videos dedicated to the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077. The twenty-five minute presentation, hosted by Hollie Bennett, included a new trailer, a look at the game’s interactive and narrative Braindance mode, and interviews with Lead Quest Designer Paweł Sasko and Senior Quest Designer Patrick Mills.

The video also contained the announcement of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime series based on the world of the game. The series is being created by Studio Trigger in partnership with Netflix and will tell an original tale. It will be directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) with other credits including Assistant Director Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Promare), Creative Director Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill la Kill), Character Designers Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal) and Yuto Kaneko (Little Witch Academia), and screenplay by Yoshiki Usa (SSSS.GRIDMAN, Promare) and Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare), with Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill series) composing the original music score. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is planned to release in 2022.

Cybeprunk 2077 is set to be released for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia on November 19, 2020. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk 2077 will also be playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X respectively when those consoles launch. Additionally, a free upgrade for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be launched at a later date.
