Fairy Tail Adds Five More Characters to Its Roster

Koei Tecmo released new screenshots and details for Gust’s upcoming Fairy Tail RPG. The new images come with the reveal of five more characters being added to the game’s roster, all of whom hail from rival guilds to the series heroes: ‘Sky God Slayer’ Sherria Blendy from Lamia Scale, the ‘Strongest Fencer’ Kagura Mikazuchi from Mermaid Heel, the ‘Handsome’ Blue Pegasus mage Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki, and the ‘White Dragon’ Sting Eucliffe and ‘Shadow Dragon’ Rogue Cheney from Sabertooth.

The publisher also revealed details about the game’s combat. Battles feature parties of up to five mages. Combatants perform magical attacks that deal a certain amount of damage to sections of a three-by-three grid. As players deal damage, they will fill up the Fairy Gauge, which will let them do special Magic Chain combo attacks involving all of the party members and ending in a powerful finishing move.

If the player’s party takes major damage, characters can unleash dormant abilities for a few turns. These increase their power and potentially grant access to new attacks. Some combatants can also join together to perform special combination attacks called Unison Raids.

Fairy Tail is based on the popular manga and anime series of the same name, where groups of adventurers called guilds earn money and fame by completing job requests. The game will tell an original story and is set to be released in 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
