Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Gets TGS Trailer, More Characters Revealed

Nihon Falcom has released its official Tokyo Game Show trailer for Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. The new video, viewable below, introduces its major characters and some of the new 3D exploration skills appearing in the game. In addition, the developer also provided some details and images for more of its supporting characters via an update to the game’s official Japanese website.

The first of the new characters is Maxim. He operates as part of Balduq’s black market with his owl Arthur as his partner. In addition to being a source of goods, he also provides information. The second character is traveling doctor Salad. She has chosen to help examine the city’s poorer residents free of charge, and appears at a bar where Adol and Dogi are in hiding. The third character is Silhouette, a girl who wears a maid outfit and a mask that can supposedly turn certain things invisible. She was a servant for a character known as Sensei, but was arrested by the city’s knights after they raised questions about her mask.

The penultimate new character revealed is blacksmith apprentice Tito. His father, a blacksmith who forged a special demon-repelling weapon, died several years ago and Tito now lives with his younger sister Arche. The final new character is Xavier, who is a creature called a Roo. Though Roos generally only speak their own language, Xavier is able to speak with humans and decides to team up with Adol.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is set to be released in Japan for PlayStation 4 on September 26, 2019. No announcement has been made regarding a potential western release for the game.
