Nihon Falcom Details Grimwald’s Night in Ys IX

Nihon Falcom has provided some extra details for Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. The new information covers an in-game event known as Grimwald’s Night. This event sees the Monstrum of Balduq, humans given supernatural powers, enter a different dimension with a blood red sky and fight against innumerous creatures called Larva. When the Monstrum manage to defeat all the Larva, it expands the barrier around the city and allows further exploration.

To start Grimwald’s Night players must first find areas of miasma around the city. Touching this begins a battle against a number of Larva, which fills the Nox Gauge. Once the Nox Gauge is completely filled, Grimwald’s Night will occur at a location on the current barrier that has a large amount of miasma. As this is a large battle between the Monstrum and the Larva, even those not in the player’s party will participate.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is set to be released in Japan for PlayStation 4 on September 26, 2019. No announcement has been made regarding a potential western release for the game.
