Dauntless Receives Path of the Slayer Update

Phoenix Labs has released a new update for its free-to-play action RPG Dauntless. The “Path of the Slayer” update is billed as the biggest for the game, including a new Mastery system and alterations to player progression.

The new Mastery system is designed to let players improve their skills. Each Behemoth enemy and crafted weapon has its own Mastery card, which provides tasks for players to achieve in order to gain new rewards. In addition, new alternative special attack options have been added for the Hammer, War Pike, Sword, and Chain Blades weapon types.

Meanwhile, the developer hopes to improve its player progression system in multiple ways. Elements such as crating, quests, and combat now have tutorial cards, while a new “End of Hunt” screen provides more details to players on their rewards and progress towards goals. Other minor changes and additions are also included in the update. Finally, it also adds in the new Hunt Pass Season 4: Burndown limited time event.

Dauntless is currently to be in open beta on PC. The game is expected to officially launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in summer 2019, with Nintendo Switch and mobile versions planned to follow sometime in 2019.
