Final Fantasy XIV Patch 4.5 Screenshots Highlight Blue Mage

Square Enix has released some new screenshots highlighting some of the new content being added to Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood in its upcoming 4.5 version patch. Titled “A Requiem for Heroes” and the final major updates before the newly-announced Shadowbringers 5.0 expansion, the patch will be released in two parts: the first in January 2019 and the second in March 2019.

The new screenshots primarily focus on the new Blue Mage job. The job is considered a special “Limited Job” and is not connected to any other jobs. Like previous version of the job in the series, Blue Mage works by learning abilities from monsters. The Blue Mage will have its own series of challenges and event titled the Masked Carnivale. In addition to the Blue Mage, the screenshots also show the new main scenario dungeon, the Ghimlyt Dark, as well as new armour sets and a couple of scenes in the new main scenario content.

Patch 4.5 will also offer other additions including new side quests, the latest part in the Return to Ivalice raid series, and the initial roll out of the new World Visit System, with the patch’s website now live. The Shadowbringers expansion is planned for release in summer 2019.
