For the King Goes Into the Deep

IronOak Games and Curve Digital have announced the next free update for For the King. Into the Deep will release on November 21, 2018, and add a new adventure to the game.

As its title suggests, Into the Deep focuses on the waters around the kingdom Fahrul. Players will encounter the Fishfolk, who are trying to summon their deity the Kraken God. The update included nine new enemy types, new weapons, four types of boats, new NPC encounters, various new pieces of equipment, and a new Gun weapon class.

A hybrid of board-game-esque strategy, turn-based combat, and roguelike elements, For the King was initially crowdfunded through Kickstarter in 2015 and released for PC in April 2018. A console release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch is planned in 2019. Those looking to read more about the game can check out a pre-release interview with developer Gordon Moran.
