1C Company Brings Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones to Gamescom

Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones, the Lovecraftian horror RPG about horror, loss, and madness developed by Cultic Games, has found a path out of the darkness. Russian publisher 1C Company has announced that it is publishing the game and bringing a playable demo to its booth at Gamescom in Cologne this August. In addition, the company has released an official story announcement trailer, viewable below.

Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones lets players guide a character based on one of eight archetypes from the doomed city of Arkham directly into the depths of the Abyss. It features an illustrative 2D visual style and turn-based tactical combat. Of course, being inspired by Lovecraft, sanity is just as important as health, and the game’s Belief system determines how the protagonist’s sanity is affected by the madness around them, as well as affecting possible dialog options and the consequences thereof. Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones is currently planned for a release sometime in 2019, for PC, Mac, and Linux, with an early demo available to download on Steam.
