Death Howl Receives Rebirth Update

11 bit studios and The Outer Zone have released a free “Rebirth” update for Soulslike deckbuilding RPG Death Howl. The update is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. In addition to various bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and balance adjustments, it adds new modes: Rebirth Mode and Custom Mode.

Rebirth Mode is available after completing the initial playthrough and gives enemies new abilities and extra health while transforming Realmless cards with new names, effects, and visuals, as well as giving protagonist Ro a new blue robe. Custom Mode is available after completing Rebirth Mode and lets players make their own adjustments to various parameters to create their own challenges, including player and enemy health, card availability, restrictions, modifier penalties, and more. Full details about the update are available here.

Death Howl follows Ro, a woman who journeys through a Nordic-inspired spirit world in hope of bringing back her departed son. Players dive into the Spirit World, which is fractured into four realms and thirteen distinct regions. Players take on over thirty enemy types in grid-based tactical combat using a selection of over 160 cards to build a synergistic deck.
