New Release Round-Up (August 7, 2025)

Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column, we look to provide our readers with details on the major RPGs released this week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development. Pricing is shown in US dollars before application of any discounts, local pricing may vary.

Artis Impact

Pixel-graphic turn-based RPG Artis Impact is said to be a story-rich title set in a post-apocalyptic world. It follows a girl named Akane and her AI partner Bot, who take on missions and help others in a world invaded by AIs. The game is said to feature a mixture of dark narratives with cozy and light-hearted moments and activities. Players can explore the world to find various secrets as well as decorate their home, take on part-time jobs, relax by cooking or bathing, and more.

Cat Quest III

Cat Quest III is set in the Purribean archipelago, where Pi-rats swarm in search of a mythical treasure called the Northern Star. Players are joined by a trusty spirit companion and sail the seas in their own ship. The world can be freely explored, with areas visited, characters met, and quests taken on in whatever order players wish. The Mac and iOS versions come alongside its new Tavern Tales update.

EGGCONSOLE Xak Precious Package: The Tower of Gazzel PC-8801mkIISR

Another title in the D4 Enterprise’s EGGCONSOLE retro re-release series, Xak Precious Package: The Tower of Gazzel was released on Japanese PCs in 1991. The game is a top-down dungeon-crawling action RPG. It is a side-story in the wider Xak series, taking place between the evens of Xak II and Xak III. It sees series protagonist Latok explore the monster-infested Tower of Gazzel. The game does not feature a level-up system, with power-ups obtained through items, and lets players switch between five support characters. Like other EGGCONSOLE releases, the Nintendo Switch version has the main game and gallery screen in Japanese while the menu and “how to play” screens are in English.

Valiant Tactics

Turn-based roguelite tactical RPG Valiant Tactics is set in a fantasy kingdom whose monarch has been murdered and throne taken by a usurper. Players control a team of adventurers looking to restore the kingdom. The game features a hex-grid battlefield, with players taking on nine enemy factions and ten boss fights. Attacks are guaranteed to hit, with different scenarios and weather potentially requiring players to alter their tactics.
