Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree Introduces Koro and Akazu

Bandai Namco and Brownies Inc. released a new character trailer for isometric action roguelite Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree. Following previous videos introducing Rekka, Nishiki, Origami, and Shigin, the latest video introduces two more playable characters in the game: Koro and Akazu. Koro is a former elder of Shinju Village, known for being able to make levelheaded decisions, joining protagonist Towa in order to protect the village. He cared for a young Akazu to the point where he sees Akazu as his own son. With a deep love of tea and snacks, Koro felt motivated to join Towa’s journey to protect Shinju Village. Akazu was cared for by Koro from a young age and is very studious, reading books and conducting secret experiments. He joins Towa to learn more about the nature of Magatsu.

Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree sees young priestess Towa and her eight companions try to save Shinju Village from the evil Magatsu and his forces. Players select two Guardians to venture on each quest; one wields the power of the sacred sword Tsurugi while the other uses the magical staff Kagura. Each Guardian has their own skillsets that can be upgraded both during missions and in the village hub, where they can also upgrade their weapons. Quests take guardians across different timelines, with players able to see the village evolving over the years. Players can develop bonds with the village’s residents and learn more about its customs and stories. The game is set to be released for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on September 18, 2025.
