Prelude Dark Pain Kickstarter Underway
Developer Quickfire Games has begun its Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for dark fantasy tactical RPG Prelude Dark Pain. The campaign has already surpassed its €40,000 (c. $45,000) funding goal, with the campaign set to run until June 5, 2025. Those who pledge at least €15 (c. $17) will receive a digital PC copy of the game, or at least €25 (c. $28) for a digital console copy of the game, as part of their backer rewards, with a number of other physical and digital editions also available. The PC version is currently expected to release in mid-2026, with console versions following in 2027.
Prelude Dark Pain sees players taking the role of Soren, a warrior turned blacksmith, in the world of Statera. Soren ends up leading a group of heroes trying to save the world from an ancient evil lying beyond the world’s veil, which is being torn apart by the actions of the Order of the Ashen Crusade.
It features over twenty playable heroes, each with two talent branches and over two dozen skills, with each battle seeing players leading a group of five heroes. The game’s world is non-linear, and players make decisions that can impact both the story and which heroes can be recruited. There will also be numerous sidequests that build on the game’s lore and lead to additional recruitable heroes, while Kumi Tanioka (Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles) will be acting as composer on the game. The game can be wishlisted now on Steam.
