Darkest Dungeon II Kingdoms Update, Inhuman Bondage DLC Available on Xbox Series X|S

Red Hook Studios has brought the free Kingdoms update and Inhuman Bondage DLC for Darkest Dungeon II. The update and DLC have previously been released for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

The Inhuman Bondage DLC adds a new mini-region, The Catacombs, as well as a new enemy faction and the new Abonimation playable hero. Meanwhile, the Kingdoms update adds a new mode separate from the main campaign. It sees players taking on themed adventure modules where they are tasked with defending the realm from incursions by new enemy factions. Players venture across the kingdom, earning resources to improve their heroes and the inns.

A follow-up to 2016 turn-based roguelike Darkest Dungeon, Darkest Dungeon II sees players tasked with guiding a stagecoach expedition across a decaying landscape to try and avert the apocalypse. The game features a refined version of the previous game’s combat with a new Token System. Each failed run grants resources that can be used on upgrades for future attempts. The game also includes an affinity system between party members, and players can learn more about their heroes’ backstories.

Darkest Dungeon II is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Those looking to read more about Darkest Dungeon II can check out Ryan Costa’s review of its PC release.

Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly became obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as much as gameplay. Now, I am writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!
