Hopetown Kickstarter Launching Next Week
Developer Longdue announced that the Kickstarter campaign for Hopetown, its spiritual successor to Disco Elysium, will begin on March 17, 2025. The campaign’s pre-launch page is available now, which provides a few more details about the game’s lore and setting. The developer additionally announced that Lenval Brown — the narrator for Disco Elysium — will be involved in the game, including voicing a key character, and appears in a new Kickstarter preview trailer, viewable below. The development also includes Martin Luiga, a founding member of the ZA/UM Cultural Association and writer of seven characters in Disco Elysium.
Hopetown will put players in the role of a rogue journalist in a mining town on the edge of collapse. They are the middle child of one of the world’s richest men, but find themselves exiled by their family and being involved in one scandal too many. Players are tasked with finding out and writing the story on an incident that results in the deaths and disappearances of multiple people and the halting of mining operations in the town. As a journalist, players will be able to investigate leads, spin their own narratives, and use their learning to push people apart or bring them together. Emotions, memories, and conversations will play important roles in the game’s mechanics.
