Skygard Arena Coming to Steam Early Access This Month

Developer Gemelli Games announced the Early Access release date for tactical RPG Skygard Arena. The title will come to Steam Early Access on November 18, 2024. The Early Access version will feature over nine champions and the first three chapters of the full game, with more planned to release in future updates.

Skygard Arena is set in the world of Skygard, which is made of floating islands following a massive cataclysm. Five feuding factions inhabit this world and strive to win a grand tournament, where their Champions fight for a mysterious crown left by the Ancients. The game features a story campaign that lets players uncover the mysteries of Skygard and find out whether the coveted crown is a beacon of peace or a source of ruin.

Skygard Arena‘s turn-based battle system lets players control three-person parties made of Champions. Each Champion has different personalities known as Personas, which alter their gameplay and skillset. Champions can wield Artifacts that enhance their stats and change their gameplay. The game is billed as having extensive customisation options, with one million combinations of Champions, Personas, and Artifacts. It features a multiplayer competitive mode that sees players battling in one-on-one fifteen-minute skirmishes. A demo of the game is currently available on Steam.

Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly became obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as much as gameplay. Now, I am writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!
