Seed of Pandora: Legend of the Gaia Tree Kickstarter Campaign Underway

Developer Pandora Media Games launched a Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming title Seed of Pandora: Legend of the Gaia Tree. The game is a turn-based RPG featuring 2D graphics, with classic JRPGs of the 90s and the novel The Chrysalids cited as inspirations.

Seed of Pandora: Legend of the Gaia Tree takes place in the Kingdom of Garda, which is home to the great Gaia Tree whose magical seeds once sparked a conflict after the Gaia Sect accused of abusing the power of the tree. Over a century after the Gaia Sect’s defeat, the peace has returned and sees Bastian, a young man who makes premonitory dreams, set out on an adventure that will reveal many mysteries related to the Gaia Tree. The game doesn’t feature random encounters, allowing players to avoid fighting enemies encountered on the map as long as they don’t touch them. The turn-based battle system is billed as reminiscent of the earlier Final Fantasy titles.

Seed of Pandora: Legend of the Gaia Tree is being developed for PC. The Kickstarter campaign is aiming for CA$6,800 (c. US$5,000) in funding and is set to run until August 31, 2024. Those pledging at least CA$16 (c. US$12) will receive a digital copy of the game. A demo version of the title is currently available on Steam and Itch.io.
