New Release Round-Up (April 25, 2024)

Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.


Adventure Bar Story

Simulation RPG Adventure Bar Story puts players in charge of an adventurer tavern, with players hunting ingredients from monsters while upgrading their tavern and unlocking more recipes. It is set in Kamerina’s Bar, a tavern that has caught the attention of Gustav, a rich and powerful restaurant owner who seeks to own the bar by any means necessary. The only way to prevent the hostile takeover is by making it the most popular bar.

Another Crab’s Treasure is a Soulslike adventure putting players in the role of Kril the hermit crab. Kril embarks on a quest to buy back his repossessed shell, in the meantime having to wear whatever he can find around him for protection.

Class of Heroes 1 & 2: Complete Edition contains both Class of Heroes: Anniversary Edition and Class of Heroes 2G: Remaster Edition with both games also available individually. Both games are dungeon-crawling RPGs with turn-based combat utilising a party divided into front and back rows. Players create their own party, which is based out of an adventuring academy, from a selection of available races and classes.


Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is developed by a team led by Suikoden series creator Yoshitaka Murayama, who sadly passed away in February. It is set in the world of Allraan, with its history shaped by magical items called rune-lenses. The game features HD 2.5D graphics with sprite-based characters, and turn-based battles with six-member parties.


Hammerwatch II

Fantasy action RPG Hammerwatch II is a follow-up to 2013 title Hammerwatch and sees players controlling members of King Roland’s resistance after Blight the Horrible and his dragon army succeed in overthrowing the king and bringing ruin to the Kingdom of Herian. The game includes solo and co-op play for up to four players as they travel the kingdom undertaking various quests. It features five character classes — Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Wizard, and Warlock — as well as new day/night cycles and a map editor.


Library of Ruina

“Library battle simulation” game Library of Ruina follows the story of a fixer, Roland, who is made to work for Head Librarian, Angela. They invite guests to fight Librarians with the stipulation that if the guest wins they get to take any book they want, but if they lose they get turned into books, with the goal being for Angela to find the one book that will let her become human. The battle system revolves around using cards and dice.


Megaton Musashi W: Wired

Mecha action RPG Megaton Musashi W: Wired is an enhanced re-release of the 2021 Japan-only release Megaton Musashi. The game sees players controlling giant mechas fighting against alien invaders. It is set after the year 2118, when alien invaders called Dracters gain total control of Earth, mining it out into a torus-like shape. Mechas can be customised by reconfiguring their body parts and interacting with their motherboard, which can alter their abilities as well as enhance their performance.


SaGa Emerald Beyond

SaGa Emerald Beyond takes place across multiple worlds connected by apparent emerald waves to a place called the Beyond, with each of the game’s protagonists passing into the Beyond before journeying to different worlds. The game has five different protagonist options, each with their own storylines and potential fates. Combat refines the timeline-based system from SaGa Scarlet Grace, including the returning Glimmer system and formations.


Sand Land

Action RPG Sand Land is based on the 2000 manga of the same name from Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama and is set in a desert world where humans and demons are suffering from a water shortage. The game follows Beelzebub as he joins Sheriff Rao and the demon Thief to search for a Legendary Spring. Players explore the world on foot and in a variety of vehicles, with the game featuring both vehicular and character-based combat.


Stellar Blade

Action RPG Stellar Blade sees protagonist Eve and her allies from the 7th Airborne Squad from humanity’s offworld refuge attempting to reclaim Earth from the monstrous Naytiba. Upon landing, Eve encounters an Earth native called Adam as well as 5th Airborne Squad member Lily, who offer their support as Eve comes to Xion, the last remaining city on Earth. Eve is able to build relationships with citizens of Xion and help them out if players choose to. The action combat focuses on deflecting and evading attacks with combos and special skills making use of precise timing.


Whisker Waters

Whisker Waters is billed as a “light cat fantasy RPG with fishing”. Players create and customise their own cat character who embarks on a fishing journey in a world where cats, bears, and birds live together in harmony.
