Riviera: The Promised Land Coming to Switch in Japan This Month

Developer Sting confirmed that it will be releasing Riviera: The Promised Land on Nintendo Switch in Japan. The remaster of the title will launch on the console on February 29, 2024. It has not been announced whether it will release internationally.

Riviera: The Promised Land is the first title in the Dept. Heaven series, which draws from Norse mythology, and was originally released for the WonderSwan Color in Japan in 2002. The game was remade on Game Boy Advance in 2004, with Atlus releasing the Game Boy Advance version in North America in 2005. A PlayStation Portable remake was released in Japan in 2006, with Atlus releasing it in North America in 2007 and 505 Games releasing it in Europe in 2008.

Riviera: The Promised Land follows Ein, a Grim Angel who is required to battle against demons as well as other Grim Angels. He is joined by heroines Fia, Lina, Serene, and Cierra, as well as feline familiar Rose, with the game including dating sim elements and multiple endings. The game features a chapter structure with turn-based combat where players select three of the five available party members to participate and are given a rating based on their performance.
