Final Fantasy XIV Xbox Series X|S Open Beta Date Set

Square Enix announced that its Xbox Series X|S open beta for MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV will begin on February 21, 2024. The open beta will be available to new players of the game; those who already have the Free Trial version or a Final Fantasy XIV license on another platform will not be able to participate. The open beta will have same limitations and content as the Free Trial version, minus the ability to make online store purchases.

To participate, players will need to set various privacy settings to the required levels, as detailed on the Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone. The open beta and Free Trial version will not require an Xbox Game Pass Core or Ultimate subscription to play. However, the full release will require a Core or Ultimate subscription. The full version is planned to release immediately after the conclusion of the open beta test, the timing of which will be announced at a later date.

Final Fantasy XIV originally released for PC in September 2010. Following the game’s original reception, it was shut down and relaunched for PC and PlayStation 3 in 2013 with A Realm Reborn, set five years after the events of the original game. PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Mac versions are also available, with the PlayStation 3 version shutting down in 2017. The game has received four expansions — Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker — with its fifth — Dawntrail — set to release this summer. The Free Trial version grants players limited time access to A Realm Reborn as well as the Heavensward and Stormblood expansions.
