Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC Announced

The Pokémon Company has announced an upcoming DLC expansion for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Announced during the latest Pokémon Presents presentation, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero will release in two parts. Part 1: The Teal Mask will release in fall 2023, with Part 2: The Indigo Disk to follow in winter 2023. Those who purchase The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero by October 31, 2023, will receive a code for a special Hisuian Zoroark.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero sees players leaving the Paldea region. The Teal Mask will see them head on a trip to the land of Kitakami to take part in an outdoors study program held with another school. The Indigo Disk will see them travel to their sister school, the Blueberry Academy, as exchange students. Kitakami is dominated by a giant mountain, with the people living at its base, and is home to quiet natural expanses, rice paddies, and apple orchards. The trip takes place during a regular festival, with players learning about the mysteries behind folktales passed down by its people.

Together, both parts of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero will add over 230 Pokémon from previous games that do not yet appear in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, including those that players will be able to bring into the game through Pokémon HOME or trades. The Teal Mask will introduce new Pokémon Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti, who are revered as heroes for protecting Kitakami in the past, as well as new Legendary Pokémon Ogerpon. The Indigo Disk will also introduce a new Legendary Pokémon, Terapagos.

In other Pokémon Scarlet and Violet news, a limited-time Tera Raid Battle event is running until March 12, 2023. This event lets players encounter and catch new Paradox Pokémon: Walking Wake in Pokémon Scarlet and Iron Leaves in Pokémon Violet. In addition, the games are now able to connect to Pokémon GO. By sending a postcard from Pokémon GO to Pokémon Scarlet or Violet, the recipient will receive Gimmighoul Coins while the sender receive a Coin Bag that causes a Roaming Form Gimmighoul to appear in their surrounding area when used. Vivillons in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will also change form to match the postcards.

Other news revealed during the Pokémon Presents presentation include the reveal of Pokémon Concierge, a new stop-motion animation produced with Netflix set at a Pokémon resort. A new premium Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic TCG set is also being produced with Creatures Inc. and design firm nendo. Mobile app Pokémon Sleep has a summer 2023 launch window after being originally announced in 2019, while the Pokémon GO Plus + device will release on July 21, 2023, and interact with both Pokémon GO and Pokémon Sleep.  Finally, there are new updates for online battle arena title Pokémon Unite and mobile title Pokémon Masters EX, as well as new Pokémon and events for puzzle game Pokémon Café ReMix.
