New Release Round-Up (December 1, 2022)

Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.


Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited

Tactical RPG Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited is an enhanced version of Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten, also later ported to other platforms as Disgaea 4 Complete+. The game follows Valvatorez, a vampire with a menial job in Hades, who plots a rebellion after the government orders the extermination of all Prinnies.


Eastward

Adventure RPG Eastward follows two characters, John and Sam, as they journey through a world that is falling into ruin. Players travel on a cross-country railway, stopping off at towns and villages, visiting campsites and forests, and fighting off monsters with an assortment of weapons. Front Mission 1st: Remake

Front Mission 1st: Remake is a remake of the first entry in the tactical RPG series, which was originally released for Super Famicom in Japan in 1995. The series is set in an alternate future where mechas called wanzers are the primary tools of conflict. The first game takes place in 2090 on Huffman Island, which is split in two between the Oceania Cooperative Union and Unified Continental States, and follows OCU captain Royd Clive as tensions once again flare up.


Marvel’s Midnight Suns

Superhero tactical RPG Marvel’s Midnight Suns puts players in the role of a character called the Hunter, with players able to select their appearance and powers. They lead a “darker order of heroes” against Lilith, attempting to defeat her before the Darkhold is complete.


Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song- Remastered

Romancing SaGa is the fourth title in the SaGa series, releasing in Japan in 1992, and is set on the fantasy world of Mardias. The game follows eight different protagonists, who players can control in the order they wish to freely explore the overworld. Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song- retains the original game’s story and gameplay mechanics, adding 3D graphics and additional elements from later titles in the series. The remaster includes improvements graphics, a high-speed mode, a revamped UI, and new playable characters.

Soccer-themed RPG Soccer Story is set one year after The Calamity™ saw the end of soccer, with the sport banned across the world. However, a magical soccer ball chooses the player character as its saviour. It sees players adventure across numerous locations, using the ball to serve a multitude of problems covering multiple sports and puzzles.


Sword of the Vagrant

Sword of the Vagrant is a 2D side-scrolling action RPG set in the world of Mythrilla and originally released for PC as The Vagrant in 2018. Players control Vivian the Vagrant as she attempts to reunite with her family by following her disappeared father’s research. Her journey takes her through multiple locations as she slashes her way through numerous enemies.


The Outbound Ghost

Platform: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch (previously released on PC)

The Outbound Ghost puts players in the role of a new spectral arrival in Outbound, a town inhabited by ghosts trapped in limbo. The player ghost helps others resolve their issues to let them pass on to the afterlife, while uncovering the mysteries behind their own death. The game features paper-style characters with turn-based battles and a badge system that lets players gain stat boosts and other effects.
