NieR: Automata Anime Airing in January, New Switch Trailers

Aniplex announced that its animation adaptation of Square Enix and PlatinumGames’ NieR: Automata will air in Japan in January 2023. The news came during Aniplex Online Fest, where the adaptation received new trailers and a presentation video. During the presentation, subtitled in English, game director Yoko Taro and animation director Ryoji Masuyama revealed that there will be changes to the story to better suit a TV animation format, which has led to it being titled NieR: Automata Ver1.1a, while voice actors Yui Ishikawa (2B) and Natsuki Hanae (9S) also discussed the animated series.

In addition, Square Enix has recently released new videos for NieR: Automata’s upcoming Nintendo Switch release. The three “world overview” trailers highlight specific locations in the game: the city ruins, the amusement park, and the abandoned factory. The Nintendo Switch version will be released physically and digitally as NieR: Automata The End of YoRHa Edition on October 6, 2022. It will come with the game’s 3C3C1D119440927 DLC included, which adds new combat challenges and NieR Replicant-inspired costumes

NieR: Automata was originally released for PlayStation 4 and PC in 2017, with an Xbox One version released in 2018. The game is a distant sequel to 2010’s Nier as well as a spin-off of the Drakengard series. It follows YoRHa androids 2B and 9S as they fight for humanity against the machine invaders on Earth.
