Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis Adds New Waker Class

Sega released a new update for free-to-play MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. The update adds a brand new class, Waker, which uses a Harmonizer to summon Photon Life Forms called Familiars. It has three Familiars: Fredran, Wulfen, and Marmelo.

Fredran and Wulfen are summoned using Photon Arts, with Fredran focusing on long-range attacks while Wulfen is geared for close-range combat. Marmelo is summoned with Weapon Actions and defends against enemy attacks as well as unleashing its own counterattacks. The Harmonizer has its own Harmonizer Focus with a gauge for each of the Familiars. Players can use both Fredran and Wulfen’s gauge to unleash their joint special attack, Familiar Harmony.

The update contains additional content, including new side stories and character-focused mini episodes, new Trials, and more. Two new trailers highlight the additions in this update and other updates coming later this month.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis takes place 1,000 years after the events of Phantasy Star Online 2, with both titles running alongside each other. New Genesis is set on a new world and features a redesigned graphics engine, as well as a new multi-weapon system and abilities. The game is currently available on PC and Xbox One in the west, with a PlayStation 4 release planned for August 31, 2022.
