Tactical RPG Demonschool Announced
Publisher Ysbryd Games and developer Necrosoft Games have announced Demonschool. The game is a tactical RPG inspired by Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, and Italian horror. It is in development for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, and is planned to release in 2023.
Demonschool follows Faye, a university freshman who is the last living heir to a long-forgotten family of demon hunters. Faye and her friends find themselves investigating supernatural mysteries that bring them towards a large-scale conspiracy. The game takes place across a school semester, with players deciding what to study and who to befriend. Players can choose their party’s schedule to gain new skills and allies, including building romances, developing combo attacks, and unlocking different endings.
Demonschool’s combat is designed to be more streamlined and players are able to rewind decisions. Moves are planned out first before taking place in quick succession allowing for character combinations. For example, fighter-style characters can knock foes out of position, potentially putting them in line for a debuffing dash from an ally, or damage dealers can be given protective wards by a teammate before they attack.
