Rogue Legacy 2 Fully Launching This Month
Cellar Door Games announced that roguelite Rogue Legacy 2 will fully release for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on April 28, 2022. The game has been in Early Access since 2020 on Steam and the Epic Games Store. To mark the announcement, Cellar Door Games has made its predecessor, Rogue Legacy, available for free on the Epic Games Store until April 13, 2022.
Like its predecessor, Rogue Legacy 2 sees players controlling generations of adventurers in a randomly-generated world. Each time the player character dies, the world is regenerated — though bosses remain defeated — and a new hero is selected from a list of options, each with their own class and quirks that can help or hinder. Players are able to upgrade their home manor, ensuring the subsequent generations get stronger.
Rogue Legacy 2 adds fifteen new classes, a new artistic style, and Heirlooms that grant permanent new abilities. It also adds Relics, which grant stat modifiers, challenges, and new abilities, but these are lost if the hero perishes. Other enhancements include a revamp of the Traits system and the introduction of House Rules that let players customise the game’s challenge.
