Relayer Hitting Japan in February

Kadokawa Games announced that space opera strategy RPG Relayer will launch in Japan on February 17, 2022. The game will be released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Publisher Clouded Leopard Entertainment is planning to release the game internationally but has not confirmed a release date, though the Japanese release is stated to include language support for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.

Relayer is set in 2051. Humanity has begun further exploration of outer space, but now finds itself under invasion from an alien force called Relayer. Around the same time, certain humans called Starchildren begin to discover unique powers bestowed upon them by an ancient alien civilization. These Starchildren are the only ones capable of piloting Stellar Gear, large mechs that are humanity’s sole answer to the Relayer. Players have access to four types of Stellar Gear: Assault, Sniper, Tank, and Scout.

Kadokawa Games released a new fourteen-minute overview trailer and screenshots, as well as a few new details about the gameplay. Combat includes an enmity system, with players battling in grid-based stages across the Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Europa, orbital rings, and more. The game includes six weapon types, with players able to upgrade and power them up, as well as a job system used to learn new skills.
