Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis Presentation Provides New Details, Footage

Sega held a live stream for the upcoming MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. New Genesis is a new game that will run alongside Phantasy Star Online 2, with both games being free-to-play MMORPGs. It will offer players a brand-new adventure taking place “1,000 years after Oracle’s battle”. On the game’s login screen, players will be able to select whether they login to Phantasy Star Online 2 or Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis and can readily switch between the two games.

The game takes place on the planet Halpha, where the ARKS forces are fighting against unknown forces called DOLLS. Players will have access to six classes, each with its own weapon type: Hunter (sword), Ranger (assault rifle), Force (rod), Fighter (knuckles), Gunner (twin machine guns), and Techter (wand). Players can select a sub class and use a combination of weapons from the main and sub classes.

Players will have access to various field actions, such as sprinting, swimming, mid-air boosts, as well as a familiar device called the Mag, which acts as a portable terminal and assistant. Players also have a teleportation device and a facility called the Cocoon where they can participate in multiplayer battles and quests.

The main hub of New Genesis is Central City, where players can find NPCs who provide them with requests. The world features a day-night cycle, as well as changeable weather conditions. Players can use facilities in town to create food, enhance items or equipment, and develop weapons.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is currently planned for release in 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC in North America, and for PC and PlayStation 4 in Japan. Japan will also receive cloud versions for Nintendo Switch and PC.
