Microsoft Purchases ZeniMax Media, Bethesda
Microsoft announced that it is purchasing ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Fallout and The Elder Scrolls publisher and developer Bethesda Softworks. The deal will see Microsoft pay $7.5 billion to acquire the company.
Development studios in the purchase include Bethesda Softworks, Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Studios. Microsoft stated that it plans to add more Bethesda titles to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service and that future titles are planned to be made available on the service the same date they launch on Xbox consoles or PC.
