Cadence of Hyrule DLC Announced

During its Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase presentation, Nintendo revealed three DLC packs for Brace Yourself Games’ Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring the Legend of Zelda. The three DLC packs are as follows:

  • Character Pack – Five additional characters. Impa excels in ranged attacks using her naginata, while Aria offers a challenge by causing a game over if a single attack or beat is missed. The other additional characters are Shadow Link, Shadow Zelda, and Frederick.
  • Melody Pack – Adds 39 new tracks to the game, including remixed versions of its background music. The background music can be changed at any time.
  • Additional Story Content: Symphony of the Mask – Players control the mysterious Skull Kid and venture through a new map, with new songs and a new story. Skull Kid is able change his abilities based on the mask he is currently wearing.

The Character Pack is available now, with the Melody Pack and Additional Story Content to be released at a later date. The Character Pack and Meoldy Pack are priced at $4.99 each, with the Additional Story Content priced at $9.99. A Season Pass is available to purchase now, which grants access to all three packs as they become available for $14.99. In addition, a physical release that includes the DLC will launch on October 23, 2020.

Cadence of Hyrule was released for Nintendo Switch in 2019. The game uses the rhythm-based gameplay of Crypt of the NecroDancer, and sees players control Link, Princess Zelda, or other unlockable characters through a randomly-generated overworld and dungeons as they attempt to save Hyrule. It includes an optional Fixed-Beat Mode that removes the rhythm element of the gameplay. Those looking to read more about Cadence of Hyrule can check out Pascal Tekaia’s review of the game.
