When do bad endings work to provide greater immersion, and enrich the gameplay experience by making one’s choices or failures matter?
When do bad endings fail to work, and instead prompt the feeling of “check a guide before you play, or else you’ll feel like you wasted 30-60+ hours of your life when you finish the game?”
Is there a middle ground between these extremes, and if so what does it look like?
