Nintendo Shows Some Upcoming Indie Titles

Nintendo hosted an Indie World Showcase broadcast today, during which the company highlighted a number of indie titles coming to Nintendo Switch, including a selection of RPGs. The main RPG reveal was for Eastward, an upcoming adventure RPG from publisher Chucklefish and developer Pixpil. Originally announced for PC and Mac, the game will also be coming to Nintendo Switch in 2020. Eastward follows two characters, John and Sam, as they journey through a world that is falling into ruin.

Torchlight II also put in an appearance, with a new trailer reminding viewers of its upcoming release for Nintendo Switch, in addition to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, on September 3, 2019. There is also a new trailer for Dungeon Defenders: Awakened, a sequel to tower defense RPG Dungeon Defenders. The game, which underwent a successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign earlier this year, is set to be released for PC and Nintendo Switch in February 2020, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases to follow at a later date.

The final announcement was that action RPG Skellboy will be released for Nintendo Switch on December 3, 2019. The game, from developer UmaikiGames, is also coming to PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam, though a release date has not been confirmed. Players control the skeletal hero Skippy, and are able to swap out his body parts to vanquish an evil magician and save the land. Finally, a sizzle reel offered quick looks at Cat Quest II: The Lupus Empire, which is coming to PC on September 24, 2019, and PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in fall 2019; Sparklite, which is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in fall 2019; and Munchkin: Quacked Quest, which is coming to Nintendo Switch in fall 2019.
