New Atelier Ryza Trailers, Combat Details Released

Koei Tecmo and Gust have released some new videos and provided new details for the newest title in the long-running Atelier series, Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness and the Secret Hideout. In addition to story and system overview trailers, more was revealed about the game’s real-time tactical battle system.

Combat in Atelier Ryza will continue advancing while actions are being chosen. Players are given a number of Action Points that they can use to perform skills or abilities outside of their turn using the Quick Actions technique. Action Points are shared across the party, and as the AP gauge is filled, the party increases its Tactics Level, which lets its members use more powerful attacks and special combos. Players can also have characters give an Action Order to another party member to perform a specific action. If that order is followed, the character that gave the order will follow it up with a skill attack.

Atelier Ryza is the 21st mainline title in the franchise and marks the start of a new subseries. The game follows Reisalin “Ryza” Stout, who dreams of leaving her dull life. She and her friends explore a forbidden island and meet an old mage who begins teaching Ryza alchemy. Atelier Ryza is set to be released in North America on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch and worldwide on PC on October 29, 2019, with the European PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch releases to follow on November 1, 2019.
