Digital Store Weekly Round-Up (Jan. 18, 2018)

Welcome to RPGamer’s weekly round-up on releases. This column is a reformatting of our previous digital update column, continuing to provide information on recent releases and sales for RPGs across the digital marketplace. We will no longer be providing a full list of games and prices in sales due to the prohibitive time and effort cost required to do so, but will be giving direct links to those sales so readers can easily check out the listings.

New Releases

  • Ambition of the Slimes (Switch)
  • Darkest Dungeon (Switch)
  • Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker’s Memory (PS4, Vita)
  • Full Metal Furies (Xbox One, PC via Steam)
  • Unless otherwise specified listed releases above are available in both North America and Europe.

The biggest release of the week is Bandai Namco release of Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker’s Memory for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on Friday. It is also joined by action RPG Full Metal Furies from Rogue Legecy developer Cellar Door Games, out now on Xbox One and PC (via Steam). Meanwhile the Nintendo Switch gets a couple of new ports: tactical RPG Ambition of the Slimes and gothic turn-based RPG Darkest Dungeon. This weekend also features the third and final open beta for Monster Hunter: World and the release of new DLC content for Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Sales and Discounts

Today is the final day to catch up on the January PlayStation sale in Europe, and while North America’s holiday sale is over, Citizens of Earth is now on sale in the latter region. On the Xbox side of things, this week’s sales for Gold members include Mages of Mystralia, Masquerada: Songs and Shadows, and Pillars of Eternity.

Nintendo of America has a good selection of new Nintendo 3DS sales for RPGamers, with Bravely Second, Fire Emblem Fates, and Dragon Quest VIII amongst the titles currently discounted. In Europe, Lord of Magna, Return to PopoloCrois, and Rune Factory 4 are now on sale.

In amongst the numerous titles listed currently on the Steam specials are primarily lower key titles with the highest profile offerings being Crypt of the NecroDancer and an Agarest series flash sale, though Super Dungeon Bros is free to play for the next week. The Humble Store’s large selection of Winter Sales, meanwhile, continues for another week until January 25, 2018.
