Guild Wars 3 Announced, First Beta Set for Fall 2027
ArenaNet has announced a new entry in its Guild Wars MMORPG series. Guild Wars 3 is planned to release simultaneously on PC and PlayStation 5, bringing the series to console for the first time. A first beta test is currently planned to begin in fall 2027.
Guild Wars 3 takes place over a thousand years before the events of the first game. It is set in the Tyrian region of Orr, a wild frontier imbued with magic and home to entities that have strong connections to the land called Vael spirits. Players take on the role of Vaelwardens, members of a guild of adventurers that are committed to protecting the spirits of the wild and the land of Orr itself.
Given that this takes place in Orr, it must be set before Guild Wars 1. Orr was destroyed during the events of Guild Wars 1 and its residents resurrected as undead by the Elder Dragon Zhaitan prior to the start of Guild Wars 2.
