Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake Trailer Highlights New Content
Square Enix released a new trailer for the upcoming Dragon Quest I&II HD-2D Remake. The four-minute video highlights the new content included in its remakes of the first two Dragon Quest games.
In the first game, these include new characters, new dungeons, and expanded story elements, as well as the addition of Sigils, which originally debuted in the second game and upgrade certain attacks and spells. Both games also receive Scrolls, which let players obtain new skills, as well as the newer series staple of Mini-Medals, which can be exchanged for various rewards. The second game’s remake will also allow players to explore the ocean floor with new monsters and story elements to encounter, as well as a new playable character and a tombola mini-game.
Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will release on October 30, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Dragon Quest I-III make up the Dragon Quest series’ Erdrick trilogy, with Dragon Quest III (which received the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake in 2024) taking place before the events of the first two games. The first Dragon Quest was initially released for the NES/Famicom in Japan in 1986 and in North America in 1989, while Dragon Quest II was first released for NES/Famicom in 1987 and in North America in 1990.
