Valor Mortis Announced

During Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, developer One More Level and publisher Lyrical Games announced Valor Mortis. The title is a first-person Soulslike RPG set to release in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The companies released a two-and-a-half-minute trailer that showcases monstrous enemies and snippets of gameplay.

Valor Mortis takes place in a 19th-century alternate Europe, where an unknown substance called Nephtoglobin is turning fallen soldiers into abominations. The game follows a French soldier named named William, who is brought back to life and given supernatural abilities by the substance. Players must master William’s newfound powers to face off against his corrupted comrades and others who succumbed to the Nephtoglobin’s influence. They can use dual-wielding, ranged weapons, and special abilities known as Transmutations. The game is billed as taking inspiration from the Ghostrunner series and combining brutal, methodical combat, Metroidvania-inspired levels and a narrative shrouded in horror and conspiracy.

Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly became obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as much as gameplay. Now, I am writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!
