Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.3 Arriving in August
Square Enix held its latest Letter from the Producer Presentation for MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. During the presentation, producer and director Naoki Yoshida unveiled the game’s latest major update, Patch 7.3: “The Promise of Tomorrow”, which will release in early August 2025.
As usual, the update will include new Main Scenario Quests following the end of the Dawntrail expansion, including a new dungeon — the Meso Terminal — and a new Trial with both Normal and Extreme modes. In addition, it will add the second part of its Echoes of Vana’diel Final Fantasy XI-themed Alliance Raid, San d’Oria: The Second Walk, as well as a new Deep Dungeon, Pilgrim’s Traverse. There will also be a new Unreal Trial, The Wreath of Snakes (Unreal), where players take on a new version of Seiryu. Other content includes the new planet of Phaenna for its Cosmic Exploration content, more Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures quests, new Allied Society Quests involving the Yok Huy, the new Vault Oneiron Treasure Dungeon, Duty Support for the Cutter’s Cry dungeon, PvP Series 9, and Phantom Weapon Enhancement Quests.
Square Enix also separately announced English releases for two Final Fantasy XIV-related books. Final Fantasy XIV: Chronicles of Light (Novel), Volume II is a hardcover, foil-stamped collection of thirty stories originally published on the official Final Fantasy XIV website. The stories add to the lore of the Shadowbringers, Endwalker, and Dawntrail expansions and are accompanied in the hardcover edition by an illustration created by artist Toshiyuki Itahana. The physical book is scheduled to release in December 2025, with a digital version to launch on October 7, 2025. It is available to pre-order now from the Square Enix online store, with pre-orders from other retailers beginning on June 21, 2025. Meanwhile, the Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook Volume 2 is a second cookbook featuring Final Fantasy XIV-inspired recipes. The second volume will feature recipes from Shadowbringers, Endwalker, and Dawntrail. It is available to pre-order now from the Square Enix online store and selected retailers and is planned to release in October 2025.
Taking place after the events of Endwalker, and marking the start of a major new story arc for the game, Dawntrail sees the Warrior of Light’s help requested for Tural’s contested rite of succession. The expansion adds two new Jobs: melee DPS role Viper and ranged DPS role Pictomancer. It also includes a new level cap of 100, new dungeons, new locations, new side content, and more.
