Suikoden I&II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars Switch 2 Version Announced
Konami announced that it will be releasing a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 version of its Suikoden I&II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars collection. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will launch on the same date as the console on June 5, 2025. It is available to pre-order digitally now. Players will be able to transfer save data from the Nintendo Switch version to the Nintendo Switch 2 version, provided Nintendo Switch 2 save data does not already exist. The existing Nintendo Switch version will be playable on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Suikoden was originally released for PlayStation in Japan in 1995, with North America and Europe receiving the game in 1996 and 1997. The game follows a general’s son in the Scarlet Moon Empire, who seeks out the 108 warriors known as the Stars of Destiny to help overthrow a corrupt tyrant.
Suikoden II was released for PlayStation in 1998 in Japan (1999 in North America, 2000 in Europe). It is set some years after the events of the first game and follows a new protagonist and his friend Jowy as they become involved in a new conflict that bubbles up between the Highland Kingdom and the City-States of Jowstown. Both games feature turn-based combat with six-person parties, with a wider assortment of characters available to recruit.
