New Release Round-Up (January 9, 2025)
Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released in the last week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development. Pricing is shown in US dollars before application of any discounts, local pricing may vary.
Freedom Wars Remastered

Action RPG Freedom Wars is set in a far future Earth where the populace is confined to giant city-sized prison complexes called Panopticons. Those born within the Panopticons are immediately dubbed “Sinners” and given sentences they can work off by volunteering on combat operations. The game sees players creating their own character, who is born with a one-million-year sentence, as well as their AI Accessory companion. Players take on various missions with up to three other players or AI-controlled Sinners joining in.
Leyline Chronicles
Leyline Chronicles is a turn-based RPG inspired by classic 1990s JRPGs. The new release is a remastered/full version of the game originally released on itch.io (the itch.io version will also be updated). The game follows Lambert, Devan, and Jaskya, who are Ley Sensitives gifted with supernatural abilities. Players are joined by eight different characters as they venture across the world of Orphania, learning more about themselves and their talents. A sequel is planned.
Sea Fantasy

Fishing adventure RPG Sea Fantasy is set in a pixel-art open world and follows two young men who set out to fish for the SeaAZ, the marine life of their world. However, the destruction of the world is imminent and the men’s fishing abilities may turn out to be what saves it. The game features a fishing combat system where players need to reduce their catch’s HP to zero by performing timed Gauge Actions. The game’s story is said to be between ten to twenty hours long, depending on how much side content players engage with.
Wuthering Waves

Free-to-play open-world action RPG Wuthering Waves sees players waking up as a character known as Rover, who is joined by various fighters known as Resonators as they look to recover their memories. The PlayStation 5 release comes alongside with the game’s Version 2.0 update, which introduces a brand new region named Rinascita. Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is a remaster of action RPG Ys: The Oath in Felghana. The game follows Adol Christin and long-time companion Dogi as they visit Dogi’s hometown of Felghana. The Memoire remaster includes new voice events and narration, refined and classic illustration options, new difficulty options, and a high-speed mode.
