Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven Gets Final Media, Details
Square Enix released its final pre-launch media and details for Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, its full 3D remake of Super Famicom title Romancing SaGa 2. The update introduces some additional characters and its post-game content. It is joined by the game’s official launch trailer, which can be viewed below.
The newly-revealed characters are split between playable characters and classes, and supporting cast members. Wallenstein and Minerva are two members of the new Imperial Guard, which is made up of the strongest hand-picked soldiers directly reporting to the Emperor of Varennes during its multi-generational war against the corrupted Seven Heroes. Meanwhile, Sharrakan is a member of the Desert Guards, curved blade-wielding warriors from the desert. The other two playable characters are Hamba, a Hunter from the Savannah region, and Windy, who is a member of the non-human Iris, which hail from the highlands and have wings and bird-like claws.
Supporting characters are led by Victor. He is the Crown Prince of the Varennes Empire. He is sympathetic to his younger brother Gerard and attempts to stop the Seven Heroes’ initial attack on the capital using his signature move. Orieve is a seeress who visits the capital to warn Emperor Leon of the Seven Heroes and passes on the secrets of inheritance magic, which allows the Empire to conduct its fight. Sagzaar is a mysterious man who holds secrets about the hero Wagnas, while Hierophant is Orieve’s father, his name once signalling a position that rivaled the king. Hiraga is part of a lineage of investors, the name Hiraga having been passed down through generations, while Thomas is the gentle second prince of Cumberland and Sekishusai is a swordman who serves the king of the eastern kingdom of Yauda.
Once players have completed the game, they will be able to access a dungeon called Dreadhome. Within this dungeon players are able to fight echoes of the Seven Heroes. These echoes are significantly more powerful and use a mixture of familiar and new techniques. After fulfilling certain conditions and defeating the echoes, players will be able to obtain the equipment that they used, allowing players to glimmer and use their techniques.
In addition, Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven includes foes called the Termites. Living deep under the Savannah, they are a great threat to mankind with their resilience and ability to rapidly multiply, and have driven the Moles to the brink of extinction. They are led by a queen whose power rivals that of the Seven Heroes. Once players have completed the game, the will be given the opportunity to face off against the Dread Queen, said to be the origin of all Termites. If players can defeat the Dread Queen, they will unlock New Game+. This lets them carry over stats, equipment, learned abilities, and formations as well as unlocking the Expert and Romancing difficulty levels, the latter of which is designed to trouble those who do not bring strong New Game+ saves into it.
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is set to release for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on October 24, 2024. Those looking to read more about Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven can check out Luis Mauricio’s impression from early access to its demo.
