New Release Round-Up (October 10, 2024)

Welcome to RPGmer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released in the last week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.

Beloved Rapture

Beloved Rapture is a turn-based, retro-styled RPG. The game follows Johan, who is thrust into a conflict as a cultish militia called the Aeons advances on his hometown. The game features six playable characters with Classic or Story difficulty options as well as the option to change between Active or Wait modes in combat.

Metaphor: ReFantazio

Metaphor: ReFantazio is the latest title from the team behind the Persona series. It is set in the United Kingdom of Euchronia, which is made up of three constituent countries populated by eight different tribes. The game’s protagonist — accompanied by the fairy Gallica — is in the capital for the king’s funeral following his assassination, on a mission to save the crown prince from his current curse. However, in order to fill the power vacuum, a special spell is cast that announces a tournament for the throne, where the person who has earned the most faith of the citizens as of the October Day of the Hero will be granted the throne. Necro Story

Lighthearted creature collection RPG Necro Story puts players in the role of a (kind of) evil necromancer, who is joined by the ghost of a white mage as they venture into the Underworld to save humanity. Players will have access to twenty spells, each with its own upgrade tree, as well as the signature Possess Soul ability, which lets them take control of any defeated enemy and form their own army of minions. A PlayStation 5 release is also planned to follow later this month.

RPG Maker WITH

RPG Maker WITH is the latest console-dedicated title in the RPG creation suite series. It includes a new asset sharing feature, while in addition to sharing completed projects, users can share and download maps and events, as well as in-progress projects, as parts. RPG Maker WITH will include 128 characters and 130 monsters at launch, with additional content packs to be released later. PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions are planned to release in 2025.

Sky Oceans: Wings For Hire

Aerial combat RPG Sky Oceans: Wings for Hire is set centuries after an event called the Great Scattering, which shattered the planet’s surface, leaving large areas in the skies. Although the event destroyed much of civilisation, humanity has formed new tribes and now lives in the skies. Players control Glenn Windwalker — a young captain yearning to explore and adventure — recruiting new members, upgrading their airship, and engaging in turn-based dogfights.
