Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart Coming to Nintendo Switch in Japan

Developer and publisher Compile Heart announced that it will be releasing strategy RPG Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart for Nintendo Switch in Japan. The title will launch on the console on February 13, 2025, with no announcement regarding a western release as of yet.

Co-developed with Sting, Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart initially launched on PlayStation Vita in 2014 in Japan. A western release followed in 2015, before the game was ported on PC in 2016. The title is a spin-off of the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, and features the goddess Noire as lead character. It takes place in the world of Gamarket, where the goddesses of four nations (including Noire) are constantly battling for the domination of the world. This feud comes to an end with the appearance of an unknown force that robs the goddesses of their powers. To save Gamarket from this new threat, the four goddess join forces.

The game features a turn-based battle system, with battles occurring on grid-based maps. The terrain’s elevation affects units’ ability and mobility, with certain units more proficient than others in climbing higher places and characters sustaining damage from falling. Characters taking part in the same battles potentially develop stronger bonds with each other, enabling stat boots and special abilities that include goddess transformations thanks to the Lily system. In the Sim Noire mode, players can decorate Noire’s home with furniture and accessories, which unlocks special scenes.

Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly became obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as much as gameplay. Now, I am writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!
