Astlibra Gaiden: The Cave of Phantom Mist Releasing on Switch This Month

WhisperGames announced that Astlibra Gaiden: The Cave of Phantom Mist, its DLC for KEIZO’s 2D action RPG Astlibra Revision, will release on Nintendo Switch on October 17, 2024. The Nintendo Switch release will be available as a fully standalone title.

Astlibra Revision is described as an ode to classic hack-and-slash sidescrollers and follows the protagonist and his talking bird companion Karon as they travel through time to find a girl that the protagonist met during his childhood. It is split into multiple chapters, with players able to customise their character build and play style through upgradable skills and equipment, plus different weapon types. The game originally released for PC in 2022 after fourteen years in development, with a Nintendo Switch release following in late 2023.

Astlibra Gaiden: The Cave of Phantom Mist tells a separate story to the main game, following the baker of Rispadar’s daughter on her own mini adventure. It sees players taking on randomly generated dungeons through a roguelike-style gameplay loop, including granting access to new magic attacks.
