Forge of the Fae Kickstarter Campaign Underway

Developer Datadyne launched a Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming title Forge of the Fae. The game is billed as a pixel art JRPG taking inspirations from RPGs of the 16-bit era as well as Celtic folklore.

Forge of the Fae is set in a world reminiscent of 1800s Ireland. It follows the adventure of a young inventor named Fiora during a conflict between humans and fae. The game features a branching story, with the choices made by players determining the outcome of the conflict. It has a turn-based battle system, where the weather can work to the advantage of the player or enemies. In combat, characters build up Adrenaline that can be unleashed later as a Surge, the effects of which depend on the character using it. Players can use crystals to enable skills and magic, with different combinations unlocking new abilities.

Forge of the Fae is set to launch for PC (via Steam) and Nintendo Switch as well as PlayStation and Xbox consoles, with no release date at this time. The Kickstarter campaign, which has already surpassed its $15,000 funding goal, is set to run until October 24, 2024. Those pledging at least $25 will receive a digital copy of the game. A demo is currently available on Steam.

Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly became obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as much as gameplay. Now, I am writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!
