Archetype Entertainment Announces Sci-Fi RPG Exodus

Archetype Entertainment, an internal development studio of Wizards of the Coast, announced its title Exodus. The story-driven sci-fi RPG is set in an original universe and is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A release window has not been announced.

Exodus is set in a universe where humanity has fled the dying Earth and is looking for a new home while fighting for survival. Players control the Traveler, whose job is to steal alien weapons and technology from the Celestials, humanity’s powerful foe. However, the impact of these interstellar missions are not straightforward thanks to time dilation, meaning that a days-long mission for players can see decades pass back home.

Archetype Entertainment is based in Austin and was founded by former BioWare lead designer James Ohlen — who previously worked on titles including Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Dragon Age: Origins. The development team is said to include veteran talent from numerous studios. Actor Matthew McConaughey also teased his involvement in the game.
