Beastieball Announced
Chicory: A Colorful Tale developer Wishes Ultd. announced its latest title, Beastieball. The game is a turn-based monster-raising volleyball RPG, where players form a team of sporty Beasties to earn glory in the Beastieball League. It is in development for PC and Mac and is planned to release in 2024. A Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign is also planned.
Beastieball sees pairs of creatures called Beasties facing off on a small tactical grid. Each Beastie has its own traits, strengths, and weaknesses, and they can work together in different ways. While players have control of the ball they can use actions to set up a powerful attack, while when the opponent has the ball players will need to anticipate and create a defence. Every Beastie pair has its own powerful combo move.
The game features an open world where players look to defeat various ranked coaches, each with their own story, to raise their ranking enough to compete in the Crown Series. These bosses can be taken on in any order, with the remainder becoming more powerful after each one is defeated.
