Aerial Dogfighting RPG Sky Oceans: Wings For Hire Announced

Publisher PQube and developer Octeto Studios have announced Sky Oceans: Wings For Hire. The game is a turn-based RPG with players taking the role of captain in a rag-tag party of sky pirates and participating in aerial dogfights. It is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, though a release window has not been announced.

Sky Oceans: Wings For Hire is set centuries after an event called the Great Scattering, which shattered the planet’s surface, leaving large areas in the skies. Although the event destroyed much of civilisation, humanity has formed new tribes and now lives in the skies. Players control Glenn Windwalker, a young captain yearning to explore and adventure.

The game sees Glenn recruiting a party of fellow sky pirates, each with their own backgrounds and tastes, and players can form bonds with them that impact combat. The turn-based battle system sees players making strategic decisions including selecting attacks and choosing whether to try and evade incoming fire. Players can upgrade their equipment as they explore various locations on foot and by airship.

Finally, a new Skies of Arcadia. DIY Chrono Trigger made me really think so many games need an indie remake.
