A Bavarian Tale: Totgeschwiegen Launching in February

Active Fungus Studios announced that its historical detective RPG A Bavarian Tale: Totgeschwiegen will fully release for PC on February 2, 2023. The game takes players to the village of Wolpertshofen in Upper Bavaria in 1866 and has been on Steam Early Access since September 2021.

A Bavarian Tale: Totgeschwiegen puts players in the role of Valentin Schmidt. The young surveyor is sent to Wolpertshofen, and ends up needing to make use of his detective skills after a mysterious death, which starts to unravel the facade of the apparently peaceful village. The game features a third-person view as Valentin explores the village seeking clues and evidence.

Character builds are an important part of the game, with players able to choose what skills to upgrade, with various skill checks utilising pen-and-paper RPG mechanics. Challenges can be tackled in multiple ways with different skills, with players also having to make choices throughout the game. A Bavarian Tale: Totgeschwiegen features Bavarian and English voice over options, with German and English subtitles. A single playthrough is said to take around ten hours, with eleven different endings available.
