  1. The reason Arc Rise Fantasia feels like a Tales game, and Tales of the Abyss specifically, is because several of ARF’s developers also worked on Tales games. ARF’s director, Hiroyuki Kanemaru, worked on Tales of Symphonia; GC designer and programmer Yoshiyuki Aiuchi worked on Symphonia, Legendia, Abyss, and Zestiria; battle designer and programmer Osamu Hisano worked on Symphonia, Abyss, and Berseria; and scenario writer/supervisor Takumi Miyajima also worked on the scripts for Symphonia, ToS: Dawn of the New World, Abyss, and the mobile tile Tales of the Rays.

I sometimes think of Arc Rise Fantasia being the Tales and Luminous Arc mash-up I never knew I wanted. Too bad it doesn’t have an English localization to match. That made me think of a question: Is there any RPG that you would like to see remade or receive some sort of re-release mostly to fix the localization?

Listening to the conversation about how Sony has basically become “blockbusters only” in 277, and thinking about how there seems to be a well-sourced rumour of a Horizon: Zero Dawn remaster – what’s a modern game that actually needs a remaster aside from Xenoblade Chronicles 2? (Heaven knows XC2 needs to pick up a LOT of lessons from 3 in story, character acquisition, and graphics – not necessarily in that order.)
